Same Suit Stayman


When partner has opened 1 of a minor suit, and an opponent has overcalled one notrump, responder may choose to bid 2 of the minor as a takeout for the majors

, Responder is expect to be 5-5 in the majors, but may have 5-4. Opener must bid a major with at least 3 cards in one of the suit. With no 3 card suit, opener would rebid the minor (opener must have at least a 5 card suit if lacking no 3 card major). With 4-4 in the majors, opener bids 2nt, allowing responder to choose.
